I was out working in the rain at the ranch one day with my baby blue ropers on , I got them so wet. I had a Barn dance to go to the evening I wanted to wear my blue boots I call them my dancing boots. Well I put them in front of a 50 gallon barrel that we used to burn fire wood to get warm when it was cold outside. They just wouldn’t dry so I was a little desperate to dry them out. I took them in the house and put them in the oven on low to dry them out when I came back in to get them, they were all wrinkled up. I cried and thought to myself what was I going to where to the dance I tried to wet them and pull out the leather, no luck. I rushed to the cowtown boots and got myself some daning boots. When I got home I remember my old blue boots I just loved those boots so I put some dried flowers in them and now they are hanging on the wall. Everyone that comes over wants to know where I bought that beautiful arrangement on the wall, well I said theirs a story behind those boots. Happy Trails

A Little Work Goes A long Way
By Verna Kosydar, Alaska, posted May 27th, 2009
When I was 13 years old, and having a girlish love of horses,I wanted a pair of black cowboy boots with fancy stitches on the tops.My Dad was not well and had to quit working as a logger in Oregon.Money was in short supply. My Dad and I made a deal, if I could peel enough chittem bark to make money to put towards my new boots,he would take me to Salem, the biggest town near my home and we would buy my new boots! I really didnt mind peeling chittem bark, fighting the gnats and flies was the most irritating part of the job, I actually enjoyed climbing and peeling the tree, especially rewarding when large 1 to 2 foot strips would slip off. Drying the bark took some time , more so when we would get a week of rain common for Oregon coast weather. After weeks of peeling, drying ,chopping then bagging the chittem in gunny sacks, I sold my chittem at the local Mom&Pop country store. Skipping happily home with money in hand, most likely a whole 15 to 20 dollars.Waving my money at Dad grinning from ear to ear, begging for him to tell me if I had enough money and when could we go to the big town for my new boots? When all things fell into place Dad took me to Salem and found my new black cowboy boots with fancy stitches! I wore those boots everywhere! I didnt have a horse of my own but whenever I got the chance to ride I wore my boots with pride! I had my longed and worked for boots into my mid twenties, when I lovingly gave them to my little sister when she was 13 so she could use them while showing her horse in horseshows, which made another dream of mine come true through her, I always wanted to be an experienced horsewoman .She was great and won many blue ribbons in her horseshowing years.I always kidded her that it was all because of my lucky boots! After 36 years of raising a family of nine children,I finally have a horse! I have had my heart set on a pair of ProBaby Boots with some red on them since my horse has a red saddle blanket and after all ,Iam old enough to be a red hat lady. With fancy boots I could once again ride with pride!!
Ready To Go And No Boots?
By Mark, Virginia, posted May 22nd, 2009
One evening i come home and mud was tracked through my house. We had no idea where it come from. Later that evening i got ready to go out i found everything except for my boots and a electric razor. They left my brand new pistol but took my favorite boots. They was Tony Lama soft black pull ons (the ones that fall over when you take them off.) and i still miss those. So i guess everybody wants a pair of boots. No matter what it takes to get them.
Boots and other stuff stolen while in combat.
By Melody FitzSimons, Lafayette, In. 47909, posted May 19th, 2009

I was sent to war, I was with the Army. My stuff was in storage. My 2 storage sheds were broken into, on a Army base. My boots, saddle and all the stuff with it. Bridle, breast collar, split reins, gaming reins, southwest saddle pad, bit, bosal, my chaps, and show halter and lead was all stolen. I had worked hard for that saddle when I was in AQHA. I also lost a whole house full of stuff of my daughters and mine. Its pretty bad that someone would stoop low enough to steal someones belongings in any situation, but especially while that someone is in combat. The Army did nothing, as usual. I have not been able to replace all that I had and wish I could, cause I would love to go back to showing. I do horsemanship, showmanship and gaming.Thank you for listening to me. By the way, I spent 10 mos. in Iraq the first time and 11 the next. Thank you Melody FitzSimons
A Girls Just Gotta Have Boots
By Shanna Pitts, Born and raised in Longview, Texas. Now I live in Destrehan LA, posted May 19th, 2009
I grew up in the great state of Texas. Katie, my daughter, has always wanted to be a Texas gal. Unfortunatly for her we had to move to Louisiana just weeks after her birth. She is now 15 and really wants to “look” like a Texas gal. Katie figures all girls from Texas have boots. how great would it be for Katie to receive a wonderful pair of real cowgirl boots. Looking great is of course top priority for a girl her age. Wouldn’t Cowboy boots be the perfect accessory to any outfit, not to mention very comfortable. From dresses to bluejeans to shorts, Katie would look great. Just imagine a 5′8″ blonde haired brown eyed girl who loves life strutting around in the perfect pair of boots! WOW!! Recently she won the title of Festival of Charities Teen Queen III. When Katie had do perform a jingle of her Hopes and Dreams she talked about becoming a country singer. Her outfit consisted of a Taylor Swift brand dress and a pair of BORROWED cowboy boots. The only problem with the boots is the fact that Katie shoved and I mean shoved her size 9.5 to 10 feet into a pair of size 7 boot. OUCH. What a trouper, she never complained, just smiled and loved the way cowboy boots looked.
Katie will probably always ( at least through graduation) live in LA. Her sister is returning to Texas to attend college. Katie hopes to go to College at the University of Texas at Austin and remain in Texas to live. Hopefully she’ll have a great pair of boots to wear.

Met my wife at bootcity
By Randall Edmaiston, Casey, Illinois, posted May 14th, 2009
I am from Casey, Illinois, and the nearest place to get good boots is south of Terre Haute, Indiana, so i went to boot city, and as I was shopping for new boots, I saw a beautiful woman walk by, I had never seen her before, I asked her opinion on a pair of boots, then she helped me find a pair that looked good.
Then after I paid for the boots, I asked her out to dinner, we have been together ever since. The day I met her was October 6th 2006, now look at us, we will be having our two year anniversary in October 6th 2009. If it wasnt for boot city I might not have ever met her. I still have the boots, now im about ready to come back and get some new ones. Thanks
Boots for our Wedding…
By Kim Chumley, Lufkin, TX., posted May 13th, 2009

My fiance met and started dating almost 8 years ago. We have been through so much together, including divorce of my parents, death of a childhood friend and the turmoils of college stress and life. We just got engaged over Easter and are FINALLY getting married! My fiance wears his boots EVERYWHERE: church, school, work, etc. He loves his boots more than anything, except me of course! When I bought my first pair of boots he was so excited and wants me to wear them everywhere too. We are even taking our engagement pictures in our cowboy boots. For our wedding, he is wanting to buy his groomsmen boots for their wedding party present. As you can imagine, that would be quite expensive. He also wants a new pair of boots for the wedding and I am entering this story in hopes that I could win some boots for him. He is the most amazing person I have ever met and I can’t imagine my life without him.
Thanks!

Right But Wrong! Finally Perfect!
By Steven E. Garcia-13 years old, Eagle Pass, Texas, posted May 12th, 2009
How funny when people always say mom is always right. COmes to prove there’s nothing that could be farther than the trut h. We just traveled to San Marcos to visit my aunt but before visiting her I definitly wouldn’t stop nagging about the boots I needed and wanted to buy. I had borrowed a pair from my aunt for a couple of months because I hadn’t found the perfect pair for me. So finally the wear and tear of the old boots could be spotted from down the halls of our junior high hall. Well, Back to the story. I complainted for 3 1/2 hours how I wanted to buy a pair of boots. Mom finally stopped shopping and drove to the nearest western store and as I walked in I was drawn to the a pair of peanut colored boots. Wow! I had to have them. I tried them on, they fit extremely big- BIGGGGGGGGG! but I was deteremined to have them. Mom said they looked big and kinda funny but being the last pair I knew I would finally grow into them, at least one of these days- in the near future. My mom finally agreed to pay them since I had recieved my lamb sales money that previous Tuesday. Boy! now I knew money didn’t grow on trees. These boots deserved all the hard work and dedication I had put in to making my 4-H lamb sale a success. I walked out all smiles but a little doubt knowing that I probably couldn’t wear my boots for a least 6 more months, until I finally grew into them. Well, at least they were mine. THe next morning I proudly showed everyone my oversized boots and with lots of doubtful looks I knew something was wrong. I quietly took off my dream boots and asked my mother to go return them. We called several Austin and San Antonio area western stores but none of them had them. Why, was everything turning out so wrong. Well, I took the boots back home and realized they would be stuck in their box for the next century-( sarcasm). Driving back to my home town, we stopped at a western store in San ANtonio and as I walked in I was quickly drawn to a young sales lady and an older man who came to my rescue. They searched top to bottom and side to side and FINALLY there they were the exact pair , color and size I needed. I ran to the truck to get the other pair and returned them for these new and PERFECT boots. I couldn’t be happier realizing that mom seems to always be right but sometimes I must be persistent for things to be perfect!
