Snakes In The Car Lot
By Michelle Chatel, PA, posted June 12th, 2009
When I was younger my car was totaled in a car accident which was not my fault. I went out that weekend looking to buy a new car. I spent all weekend, going from from dealership to the next but no one would make me a deal on a used car. I was a single mother at the time and that was all I could afford. I told each one, that whoever made me the best deal would get my business. No one wanted to deal for a price I could afford. As I leaving one of the offices and walking through the car lot a salesman stopped me. He asked what the problems was and I told him, then he said, “Nice boots.” I said, “Thanks, my boyfriend bought them for me,” and I said goodbye. Later that night when I returned home I found a message on my answering machine from that very same dealership. They stated they have reconsidered and would make me a deal after all. I thought to myself, so that’s why they didn’t want to deal. They thought if I could afford to walk around in a pair of pricey snakeskin boots, that I could afford to pay more for a car. Well, I think they’re all snakes. I spent the next weekend shopping for a car in a pair of old sneakers and finally made a deal on a car.
No More Boots
By David Gray, Lakewood, California, posted June 10th, 2009
It was about fifteen years ago when we got married. One day my wifes brother stops by the house and gives my wife a pair of boots. Says here, take these , I got them for David.
They were nice boots, made in Mexico sort of a blackish wine color. No cushion and not real comfortable. But I had boots, my first pair of boots. So time went on and I didn’t wear them that much and one day the wife says to me,”where’s your boots, I havent seen them? I didnt know. They disappeared. The only thing that I can thing of ths that I left them on the porch and somebody came buy and took them. Now I have No More Boots.

Another Pair Like - em
By Billy Hobbs, Tucson, AZ, posted June 3rd, 2009
Sitting in class I stretched out semi - reclined at my desk to allow everyone a better view of my new boots. During this manuever the teacher remarks “NEW BOOTS Billy”? I responded “not really; just haven’t worn these to class before”. She then remarked loudly “then I betcha gotta nother pair just like - em at home don’t ya”? I said, no, I have several pairs of boots, but none like these why? She said then I bet the shoe store does. Well; by now the entire class is staring at my boots and giggles are begining to erupt from all who could see them, I casually (KOOLY) looked down at my boots to see what was so darn funny, and why she would make such a remark. The top of the left boot was a different color and design pattern than the top of the right boot. In my excitement at buying myself a new pair of boots, I only tried on one of the boots, it fit correctly, so I never looked at the other boot. I got home and put them next to my bed so I could jump in them and go to class stylin’ and profilin’. Since then I check, doublecheck, then recheck all my shoes for the correct and matching mate before I buy or leave my house with shoes on of ANY kind.
ps:I was able to return the boots, and get a MATCHING pair; different color, style, bottoms and tops.
